Deacon Willy “Barkley” McGill was born on June 4, 1950, to the late Eugene and Nover Lee McGill of Sumter. Our father transitioned from this life to his eternal reward at McLeod Regional Medical Center on September 15, 2026. Deacon McGill accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church of Lynchburg. Barkley was educated in the public schools of Sumter County where he graduated from Eastern High School. His memories will be cherished by his children, siblings, and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a. m., Friday, September 25, 2026, at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 418 Main Street, Lynchburg with the Rev. Dr. Sammie D. Simmons, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Bethesda Memorial Gardens. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 2175 Rose Hill Road, Lynchburg.
