Ruby Jean (Shaw) Miller, 77, went home to be with the Most High on July 28, 2026. Born in Sumter, South Carolina, on September 30, 1948, Ruby was the eldest daughter of Isaac and Mary Shaw of Sumter, South Carolina. She lived a life shaped by faith, principle, and unwavering devotion. She loved her family and friends with a Messiah centered compassion, always concerned for the welfare of others and always ready to serve. Her kindness flowed from a heart anchored in the teachings of the Most High. Ruby attended Lincoln High School, where she excelled academically and participated in a variety of extracurricular activities, including serving as a majorette in the band. She graduated in 1966 and was accepted to South Carolina State University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Ruby memories will be cherished by her daughter and granddaughter, her siblings, a multitude of other family members and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 2045 Golfair Road, Sumter. Celebration of Life services will be held 11:00 a. m., Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 609 Manning Avenue, Sumter, with Rev. Marion H. Newton, Senior Pastor. Burial will follow in the Hillside Memorial Park, 2561 Cains Mill Road, Sumter.
