Shamel Dushawn Gowins, 44, was born on October 19, 1981 to Irene Gowins Sowells and the late Bernard Sowells in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the NYC public school system. He departed this earthly life on May 28, 2026 at his home in Winston Salem, North Carolina. His precious memories will be cherished by his mother, two daughters, two brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be 10:00 – 11:00 a. m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, follow by Celebration of life services at 11:00 A. M. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Burial will be in the Hillside Memorial Park, 2561 Cain’s Mill Road, Sumter.
