Mrs. Bessie Simmons, 101, daughter of the late Miller Rivers and Janie Stuckey Rivers, and the devoted widow of Thomas Simmons, was born on May 14, 1925, in Lee County, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Sumter East Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sumter. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Mt. Olive AME Church, where she served on many ministries and the Twelve Tribe of Israel. Those left to cherish her memory include her five grandchildren, siblings, and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life services will be held 1:00 p. m., Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, (Highway 441) Woodrow with the Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Colclough Cemetery, Dubose Siding Road, Sumter.
