Leroy James Abrams was born to the late Ernest Lenburg and Lillie Mae Bradford Abrams on May 24, 1957 in Sumter, SC. He received his education in the Public Schools of Sumter County. Leroy was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church for 20 years, where he faithfully served with the Music Ministry. He was a founding member of his family group, The Abrams Singers. Leroy was a great auto mechanic for many years. He later discovered his gift and passion for selling clothing, hats, jewelry, etc. He will truly be missed. Leroy James Abrams departed this life on Friday, January 23, 2026 in Lee County, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Leroy, better known as “LJ”, one sister, Emma Deschamps, one brother, Charles Abrams and a nephew, Julius “Bubba” Deschamps. Leroy leaves to mourn his passing: two daughters, Brandy (Lee) Carter of Byron, GA and Tammy (Mark) Johnson of Elgin, SC; five sisters, Nancy (Joseph) Gilliam of Clarksville, TN, Juanita Wilson and Beverlyn Abrams, both of Augusta, GA, Dora (Nathaniel) McFadden and Betty (Felix) Lenard, both of Sumter, SC: Four brothers, Michael (Barbara) Abrams, Sammy Abrams, Ronnie Abrams and Clayton (Natasha) Abrams, all of Sumter, SC; one uncle, J. B. (Mabel) Abrams of Sumter, SC, grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends that loved him dearly. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, February 2, 2026 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 320 West Fulton Street, Sumter, with Rev. Dr. Cartrell Woods, Pastor, Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Colclough Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of his sister, Betty Lois Lenard, 1715 Elder Lane, Sumter, SC 29153 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM Services directed by The Management and Staff of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, SC.
