Ernest Richardson, of Sumter, passed away at Oak Hollow Nursing Home on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 74. Ernest was born on January 4, 1952 to the late Isaac and Dorothy Hood Richardson. He was educated in the Sumter County School System and graduated from Maywood High School with the Class of 1970. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon release from active duty, he relocated to New York, where he worked for many years. In 1995, he returned to Sumter and was employed by Santee Print Works as a Screen Print Operator until retirement. Ernest is survived by his brother; his son; his grandson and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 A. M., Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Rev. Jacob McLeod, Officiating and the Rev. Joseph Ricks, Eulogist. Burial will follow at 12:00 Noon in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, South Carolina.
