Benjamin Dawson Jr., son of the late Benjamin Dawson, Sr. and Josephine Grant Dawson, was born on November 24, 1943, in Sumter, South Carolina. He passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 in Sumter. He was raised with his siblings in a loving home, guided by his parents. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran displaying courage, dedication and honor. His precious memories will be cherished by his wife, Mettie Black Dawson, children, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 7080 Acton Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Hopewell Baptist Church, 3285 Peach Orchard Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. E. L. Sanders, Pastor, and the Rev. Richard Addison, Eulogist Burial will follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Yard Cemetery.
