Annie Mae Hunter-Dixon was born in Lee County on May 1, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Delfield Hunter and Melma Brailsford-Hunter and step daughter of the late Idell Hunter. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County. At an early age, she lost her mother and was raised by her aunt and uncle the late Bertha Brailsford and Marshall Brailsford who loved her like their own. She was the widow of Roosevelt Dixon. On October 19, 2025, at the age of 84, Annie completed her earthly journey. Annie Mae attended the public schools of Lee County and graduated from Dennis High School with the Class of 1960. She was employed at Reeves Brothers Textile Company until closing. Then she was employed at Lee County Disabilities and Special Needs Board until 2006 and went into child care where she was employed as a 2K – 3K teacher at Bishopville – Lee Child Care Center until she retired. Her precious memories will be cherished by her family and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a. m., Monday, October 27, 2025 in the John Wesley William Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. John David Shaw, Jr., Officiating. Burial will follow in the Colclough Cemetery, Dubose Siding Road, Sumter.
