
Sarah Temoney Durant entered eternal rest on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey in Sumter, South Carolina. Born on May 21, 1951, in Mayesville, South Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Temoney, Sr., and Vermell McCauley Temoney. She was the devoted wife of the late Willie James “Buster” Durant. Sarah attended Eastern High School and embarked on a dedicated and hardworking career path. In her early adulthood, she began working as a cabinet maker at Georgia Pacific/V.B. Williams, building a reputation for reliability and skill for over 20 years. Her precision and dedication made her a valued team member until the company closed its doors. Following the closure of V.B. Williams, Sarah transitioned to the food service industry, taking a position as a cook at Shoney’s in Sumter, SC. She brought the same work ethic and care to the kitchen that she had in manufacturing, remaining there until her retirement. At an early age, Sarah accepted Christ and became a devoted servant of the Lord as a faithful member of Beulah AM E Church in Sumter. Sarah lived her life full of spirit and compassion. Her memories will be treasured by her children, family members, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 10 Norvell Court, Dalzell. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 12:00 – 6:00 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Celebration of Life services will be held 12:00 Noon, Friday, October 3, 2025 at Beulah AME Church, 3175 Florence Highway 76, Sumter, with the Rev. Dwayne Bruce, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Beulah AME Church Yard Cemetery.
