Douglas Harriott Jr. peacefully transitioned from this life on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at MUSC Health in Florence, South Carolina. Born September 29, 1938, in Oswego, to the late Douglas Herriott Sr. and Maggie Lee McLeod Herriott. He received his Education from Good Hope and Eastern High School in Sumter County. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and became a devoted member of Antioch United Methodist Church. In 1965, he moved to New York, where he embarked on a distinguished culinary career for over a decade. Later, returning to his beloved Sumter, Douglas continued his calling at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. For 26 years, he nourished both body and spirit, retiring after a lifetime of feeding nutritious meals to countless lives with respect and kindness. Douglas memory will be treasured by his wife, his children and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 530 North Wise Drive, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M., Monday, July 7, 2025 at Antioch United Methodist Church, 4040 Dubose Siding Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Franklin Garrett, Pastor and the Rev. Marvis L. Stewart, M. Div., Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery, Highway 15 North, Sumter,
