Dorothy Coker Campbell was born in Sumter County, on April 19, 1927. She was the oldest daughter born to the late Arnett and Hazel Cousar Coker. She departed this life on the morning of March 17, 2025 after a rapid health decline. Mrs. Campbell was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and following graduation from high school, she was one of few who attended the Rosenwald School of the Shiloh Community. She additionally completed a Bachelor of Arts at Morris College in Sumter. Mrs. Campbell taught for many years in the public schools of South Carolina. She taught physical education and coached girls’ basketball at Eastern High School in the 1950s. Dorothy leaves precious memories to be cherished by her family and many friends. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 P. M., Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Mt. Siani A. M. E. Church, 5895 County Road, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Dr. James Cabbagestalk, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery, 289 Backwoods Road, Lynchburg.
