Richard Knight Dunbar, Sr., a renowned musician from Washington, D. C., sadly passed away on January 4, 2025 in Sumter, S. C. Born and raised in the Nation’s Capital of Washington, DC. Dunbar’s music career spanned multiple genres, including R&B and Rock ‘&’ Roll, earning him a place in the Rock ‘&’ Roll Hall of Fame. Richard was a loyal and treasured family member of Bill Pinkney’s Original Drifter since 1988. His precious memories will be cherished by his family and many friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, January 18, 2025 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. J. Elbert, Officiating, Rev. Joseph Ricks, Eulogist.
