Natalie Brevard Perry was born on July 9, 1960, to Mozell B. Lockwood and the late Sammie Taylor, Sr., in Horatio, South Carolina. She departed this earthly life on October 19, 2024. Natalie gave her life to Christ at an early age. She joined the Willow Grove A.M.E. Church in Horatio, South Carolina, and was an active church member who faithfully participated in Sunday School and church choir during her youth. She attended the public schools of Sumter County, South Carolina. In 1978, Natalie graduated from Hillcrest High School, where she was president of the senior class. After high school, she attended Clemson University and was a member and Basileus of the Lambda Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 1982, she graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Natalie later earned dual master’s degrees in nursing and public health administration from Emory University Natalie’s precious memories will be cherished by her daughter and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 609 Manning Avenue, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Marion H. Newton, Pastor, Rev. David Owens, Officiating Clergy. Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon for viewing until time of services. Burial will be in the Willow Grove A. M. E. Church Cemetery, 8105 Sumter Landing Road, Rembert.
