Ella Bell Williams, affectionately known as “Jean”, received her heavenly reward on Monday afternoon, August 26, 2024 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. She was born in Sumter County on June 9, 1943 to the late Sergeant James Jones and Nancy Williams Jones. She was educated in Sumter County School District and was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church in St. Charles, until her health declined. Jean enjoyed cooking, dancing, and being with family. She was very skilled at playing checkers and every time she won, she would always light up the room with her infectious smile and laughter. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grands and great-grandchildren who brought so much love and joy into her life. Jean never met a stranger and always welcomes anyone into her home with open arms. She was an avid lover of karate movies and songs by James Brown. Loving and precious memories will be cherished by: two daughters, Deborah Williams and Tiffany (Cedrick) Stevens; two sons, Larry Jones and Donnie (Lawanda) Scarborough; one brother, Willie Rico Jones; two sisters, Mattie (Robert) Davis and Nancy Jones Lewis, and one baby sister/niece, Sabrina Jones Williams; six grandchildren: Tia Williams, Coby Williams, Datrick Choice, Jr., Shaniya Stevens, Tamika Jones, Dorian (Itavia) McCaskill, Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren: Damauri, Morgan, Zoey, Caycin, Carsyn, Datrick, Ka’Sean, De’Andre, Zya’Una, Janaya, Deandra, Jr, and Joshua. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Lawrence “BayShawn” Franklin and Larry Jones, Jr; one sister, Rosa Lee Jones; two brothers, Robert Williams and John Williams and two nephews, Robert Jones and Isaac Williams. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 1, 2024, in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Reverend Randolph Green, Officiant and Reverend James Jackson, Eulogist. Burial will be in the Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Mayesville.
