William Pearson, of Sumter, was born November 14,1954 in Lee County. William departed his earthly life on August 15, 2024 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. William was the son of the late Leroy Pearson and Lula Mae Pearson. William was educated in the public schools of Lee County where he graduated from Ashwood Central High School with the Class of 1973. Shortly after William attended and graduated from Morris College with his Bachelor of Art Degree , Summa cum laude. He was a dedicated employee for 30 years at The Department of Transportation, Florence, SC. Funeral services will be held 11 a. m., Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown, Pastor, Rev. Raymond Cook, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Memorial Garden, Woodrow. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p. m. at his home, 3047 Woodrow Road, Sumter and at the home of his brother, 245 Planters Drive, Sumter..
