Marie “Jean” English Spann, 68, transitioned peacefully to her eternal rest after a long illness early Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, South Carolina. She was born in Lee County, South Carolina February 17, 1956, the oldest daughter of the late Minnie Ree English and Willie Johnson. Marie was affectionately called “Jean” by her family and friends. She was educated in Lee County public schools, and at an early age, she attended Mt. Olive AME Church, Woodrow. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown, pastor of Mt. Olive AME Church, Officiating. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 5040 Camden Highway Lot B35, Dalzell.
