Lorenzo “Chet” Rogers, 69, son of Lucille Clark Rogers and the late Archie Rogers, was born on October 23, 1954 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He departed this earthly life on Monday, May 20, 2024 at his home. He was educated in the Jersey City School System and graduated from James J. Ferris High School with the Class of 1975. Thereafter, he began his employment journey within the Maintenance Department of the New Jersey Housing Authority in Jersey City. Upon relocating to the Sumter area, he found continued employment at the Sanitation and Waste Management Department. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Marvin L. Stewart, Officiating Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 615 Brown Street, Sumter.
