Harry Evans, Jr., husband of Pia Simmons Evans, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, South Carolina. Born in Lynchburg, South Carolina, on February 25, 1961 to Harry Sr. and Rebecca Evans. Harry, affectionately known as “Smooth”, was a cherished member of the Lee County Community. He was a devout attendee of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church from a young age, where he served with dedication and faith. Harry’s professional life was marked by his passion for truck driving. He worked with Lynchburg Grain, Carolina Eastern, Keith Jordan Trucking and Huggins Farms. He later founded Evans Trucking, where he continued to pursue his love for the road. Beyond his professional endeavors, Harry relished the time spent with his children, family and his beloved dog, Neiko. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife, Pia; his parents, Harry and Rebecca; his adopted sister, Emma Hicks; his brothers, Charles (Patricia), Calvin (Shelia), Harvey and Sammy; his children, Harold (Aquia’), Kaywanna (Cory), Latesia and Kanetra; special nieces, Jessica and Veronica (Terrance); twelve grandchildren; a close circle of friends including, Robert Jennings, Mike Perry, Sammie and Quan, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 3280 Valencie Drive, Dalzell. Viewing will be Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 1:00 – 5:30 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Monday, April 15, 2024, at Bethesda Church Of God, 2730 Broad Street, Sumter. The Remains will be placed in the church at 11:00 a. m. for viewing until time of services. The procession will leave the home at 11:30 a. m.
