Barbara F. Pearson, the widow of Elijah Pearson, died Thursday, February 15, 2024, at her home, 101 North Wise Drive, Sumter, South Carolina. Born in Sumter County on July 28, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Gladys F. Fludd. She attended the public schools in Sumter County. Barbara was employed at the Sumter County Detention Center and Cathy’s Kitchen on Highway 441 for many years. Her strong belief in God led her to fellowship at Grace Cathedral Church here in Sumter. Barbara was a woman who enjoyed life. She enjoyed cooking and feeding those who needed her assistance. To her friends, she was full of life and a pleasure to be around. In her free time, shopping and eating out was a delight for her. Barbara will be remembered for her love, joy, laughter and nurturing kindness when it comes to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Jacqulyn (Stephen) Blair and Pamela (Eric) Jones; one brother, Larry (Glenda) Franklin; seven grandchildren, Leteaka (Damarcus) Miller, Tolwanda (Jeffery) Crow, Jazmine (Derrick) Jasper, Shykeem Franklin, Erica Hunter, Jatayah Gregg, and Janya Cabbagestalk; ten great-grandchildren; special great-grandchild, Zi’arion Ransom; two adorable nephews she adored; aunts that kept in contact with her; a special friend, Rebecca Anderson and a host of cousins, nieces, other nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Franklin; a grandmother and grandfather, Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Franklin; several aunts and uncles. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 101 North Wise Drive, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Thursday, February 22, 2024 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Joseph Ricks, Eulogist and the Rev. Dr. J. Elbert Williams, presiding. The procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Highway 15 South, Sumter.
