Herman Brunson Wilson, Jr., fondly known to many as “HB”, was born in Washington, D. C. to Gloria Jean Helton and the late Herman Brunson Wilson, Sr. on January 23, 1967. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 16, 2023 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He was educated in the public school system of Washington, D. C. He was employed with the National Institution of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Some years later, he worked for the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D. C. Herman joined Shaw United Methodist Church in Washington, D. C., where he served faithfully as an usher. Herman loved social life, cooking, grilling on the grill, helping people and football games. He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Gloria Jean Helton; two brothers, Darrell Helton (Jillwanda) and Antonio Wilson; two aunts, Naomi Wilson and Ruby Wilson; four nephews, Darrell Jr., Dajour, Jarvie and Antonio, Jr.; one niece, Giavonni Bella; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by one nephew, Derrell Fergerson. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 42A Somerset Drive, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at 1:00 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Jacob McLeod, Eulogist, pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church, McBee. The Funeral procession will leave the home at 12:15 p. m. Burial will be in the Mayesville Cemetery, Mayesville.
