Termaine Gregory Sanders departed this earthly planet on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Florida. Born in Sumter County on January 29, 1978, he was the younger child born to Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Phillip Gregory and Carolyn Louise Sanders. Termaine grew up in a military family and as such, he traveled extensively with his parents. He spent memorable years in North Carolina, Texas, California, Germany, Japan, Massachusetts, and Florida. Being talented, creative, and cool, Termaine enjoyed rapping and vocalizing rhythm and blues melodies. Termaine attended The Department of Defense High School System on the Yokota Air Force Base in Japan. Termaine was most recently employed by Wal-Mart. Termaine was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Ben and Eunice Helton; maternal grandmother, Elouise Jackson-Helton; uncle, Freddie Helton, Jr.; cousin, Brandon Jamal Helton; beloved big brother/best friend, Rodney DeWayne Sanders; paternal grandparents, Garland Edward Sanders and Mildred Sanders-Taylor, and uncles, Leonard Bernard Sanders and Willie Hart. Left to cherish his precious memories are: Termaine’s parents, Phillip and Carolyn; grandparent, Freddie Helton of Sumter; maternal aunts and uncles, Betty H. Bolden (David) and Claude A. Helton (Debbie) of Sumter, Colonel Perry Helton (Wanda) of Stanford, VA, Cindy Grant (Mark), Martha Ray (Reggie), and Mary M. Helton of Charlotte, NC, Amanda S. Thomas (Kip) of Atlanta, GA; paternal aunts and uncles, Gwendolyn Blackwell (Anthony) of Columbia, Dr. Patricia Sanders-Fears (Joseph) of Summerville, Sharion Sanders-Davis (Gerald) of Charleston, Jacqueline Hart of Columbia, Sonya Sanders (Maria) of Rock Hill, Tonya Sanders-Commander (Eugene) of Blythewood, and Daryl Bufford of Atlanta, GA. special cousins, DaBrisha Davis, Michael Korey Bradley, Ryan Bradley, and Brandon Brandley, with whom he grew up and a host of other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the family home, 2351 Stamey Live Stock Road, Dalzell. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, 12:00 noon at New Covenant Presbyterian Church USA, 907 Legare Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Elijah Washington, Pastor, Eulogist. The procession will leave the family home at 11:15 a. m.
