Ruby Dow Pressley, daughter of the late Henry Wilson and Thelma Abrams Dow Jenkins departed this life on February 26, 2023 at Millennium Post Acute Rehabilitation, West Columbia. She was born in Sumter County on August 31, 1947. Ruby received her education in the public school system of Sumter County, graduating from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1968. Ruby joined Ebenezer Presbyterian Church at an early age. She later became a member of the Trustee Board where she remained a faithful servant until her health declined. Ruby worked for Sumter School District #17 and Carolina Pines of Shaw Air Force Base, where she retired after 20 plus years of service. After her retirement, she joined the Sumter Senior Service, where she was an active member and volunteer servant. Ruby was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Joseph Pressley Jr. and to this union three children were born. Ruby leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Cassandra and Delia Pressley of Sumter; one son, Joseph Pressley III; four grandchildren, Tyrique Alston, Shakia and JoNesha Pressley, all of Sumter, and Deliasha Green of Greenville.; two great grandsons, Princeton and Jaire Pressley of Sumter; one brother, Robert Dow of Brooklyn, N. Y.; three sisters, Doretha Dow of Savannah, GA, Johnnie Mae (LD) Haslem of North Augusta, and Mary Dow of Sumter; two sisters-in-law, Earnestine (Lucious) Pringle, Bernice (George) Rembert; two brothers-in-law, James (Thomasena) Jackson and Robert Lee (Maxine) Jackson; special family and friends, Sandra and Chad Rhinehart, Laura Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. James Green, Dorothy Mitchell, Julia Evans and Lou Alice Prioleau and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by one brother, James A. Dow; one sister, Evangelist Albertha Miller and one aunt, Rose Lee Blanding. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 2880 Bunneau Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 – 2:30 p. m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church (U. S. A.), 4620 Queen Chapel Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Carnell Hampton, Moderator, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 1:30 p. m. for viewing until time of services. The procession will leave the home at 1:50 p. m. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Yard Cemetery.
