Shawn Small, affectionately known as “Smiz, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at The Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey. Born on May 27, 1968 in Jersey City, New Jersey to James and Sheila Small. He graduated from Public School #24 and then went on to graduate from Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. He later came to Mayesville, where he was employed at Ener Sys Metal Plant, Sumter, as an assembler. He was very handy around the house where he spent most of his time helping and caring for his loving parents. He was blessed with two wonderful children, OnShawn Na-sir Small, of whom proceeded him in death. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving parents, James and Sheila Small of Jersey City, N. J.; his daughter, Brittany Odom of Jersey City, N. J.; one brother, Darryl Small of Mayesville.; one sister, Danielle Washington (Clarence) of Sumter, S. C.; three nephews, Tequan Small, Aaron Quailey and Taron Small; his godfather, Artis Gore (Joanne) of Sumter; two special cousins, Vito Small of Sumter, and Germaine Small of Jersey City, N. J. He was also loved by many family members and friends who will miss him dearly. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face mask and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at the home, 119 McCutcheon Street, Mayesville. Funeral services will be 1:00 p. m., Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Bishop Harry Clark, Eulogist. The funeral procession will leave the home at 12:15 p. m.
