Jean Mae McMillan Watkins was born to the late Mack McCauley and Gladys McMillan on March 19, 1964. She departed this life on December 16, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. She was married to the late Edwin Watkins. She worked at various restaurants as a cook. Jean enjoyed cooking and dancing. God rewarded Jean with life and a love for her family. Finally, he rewarded her with the thing she desired most, to dwell in his house forever. She leaves to cherish her love and memories: two daughters, Lakeshia McMillan and Tyleshia McMillan of Pooler, GA; one son, Christopher (Sanquonetta) McMillan of Pooler, GA; one-step daughter and one step-son of Sumter; seven sisters, Patricia Durant, Annie Bell Wilson, Eartha McCauley, Elizabeth (Herbert) Mark, Elease McDuffie, all of Sumter, Sybil McMillan of Pooler, GA, Lori Ann (Tommy) China of Savannah, GA; six brothers, Eddie Lee (Willie Mae) Jenkins, James McMillan, Edward McMillian, Willie McCauley, Frank McCauley and Jerry McCauley, all of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Tyashia McMillan of Pooler, GA, Kamya McMillan, Kalasha McMillan, Deveon Rembert, Nehemiah Bradford, Ty’kevious Mack and Ty’kyra Mack, all of Sumter, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Watkins; her mother, Gladys McMillan; her father, Mack McCauley; her brothers, Timothy McCauley, Vernell Davis; her sister, Millie Jones and one brother-in-law, Moses D. Wilson In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations from 6:00 – 9:00 p. m. at the home of her sister, Annie Bell Wilson, 2645 Nicholson Drive, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M., Friday, December 23, 2022 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Maggie Williams, Officiating, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 1:30 p. m. Burial will follow in the White’s Cemetery, Airport Road, Sumter.
