Donald Murphy, 78, was born on April 8, 1944 to the late Thomas Murphy of Clinton, North Carolina and Gertrude Rosemary Dorsey-Murphy of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Donald was baptized as a Roman Catholic. He received his education at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic High School of Philadelphia, PA. After receiving his degree at trade school, he opened his own mechanic shop while also helping his father’s demolition company. He married and through this union his children, Treasa, Donald Jr., Maryane, Kelly and Karen were born. After the marriage was dissolved, a set of twins, Shannon and Sanae were born. Donald loved fixing building and racing cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to good music and making unforgettable memories with good people. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: three sons, Donald Jr., Kelly and Shannon; four daughters, Karen, Maryanne, Treasa and Sanae; sixteen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In accord with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home 90 Hillard Drive, #5, Sumter. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a. m., Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Ricky Simmons, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 10;30 a. m.
