Doretha O. McMillan McGee, the daughter of the late Elliot and Hattie Robinson, was born July 4, 1935 in Sumter. She entered into eternal rest on November 6, 2022 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. A life-long citizen of Sumter County, she received her education from the public schools of Sumter County. She graduated from Ebenezer Junior High School. She received her high school diploma and later received a certificate from Central Carolina Technical College in Floral Arrangement and Cake Design. She graduated from the McNeil School of Cosmetology in Sumter, where she became a certified cosmetologist. She retired from Campbell Soup Co. in Sumter. At an early age, Doretha accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined Greater St. Paul N/D Church, where she was an active and faithful member of the Usher Board and Senior Choir before her health started to decline. She was a kind and compassionate, witty, full-of-life person who possessed an accepting smile. She was an inspiration to her family, the Pinedale Community, and others who knew her. She was married to the late Kirby McGee, and to their union these are left to cherish her memory: daughters, Nellie (Johnny) Jones of Orlando, FL, Betty Frierson of Sumter, Doris McGee of Sumter; sons, Charles McGee of Sumter, and Clifford (Tonya) McGee of Florence; one sister, Dorothy Tanner of Columbus, OH; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 80 Albert Spears Drive, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Thursday, November 10, 2022 St. Paul Non-Denominational Church of Sumter, 200 Watkins Street, Sumter, with the Bishop Henry Simmons, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 10:30 a. m. Burial will follow in the W T English Memorial Garden,3735 Congruity Road, Sumter.
