God sent his angel to scoop up his beloved daughter, Mary Lue Robin Richardson on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Mary’s journey began on February 16, 1939 in Sumter, being born the daughter of Lucille B. Goodley Robins and Joseph Adams Robin. She received her formal education in the Sumter Public School System. Mary’s faith in God and heart for service was nurtured at an early age in the Salem Missionary Baptist Church of Sumter. She served in various capacities within the local church, association, state and national levels. At Salem, she faithfully served the Ushers Ministry until her health failed. She also served as Secretary of the Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Advisor to the Junior Missionaries, Secretary for the Sunday School, Advisor for the Youth Choir, President of the YWA for over 20 years, Secretary of the Senior Ushers, Advisor for the Youth Ushers, Secretary of the Needlework Committee of the South Carolina Baptist Education and Missionary Convention Usher’s Auxiliary, member of the National United Church Ushers Association of America, Incorporated. Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert Richardson for 50 years. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children and caregivers, Melissa R. Ricks and Joseph D. Ricks of the home; a son-in-law, Lafayette Scott, Sr.; three grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, a host of other relatives, extended family and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. for viewing until time of services. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 320 West Fulton Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Cartrell Woods, pastor, officiating, Rev. Joseph D. Ricks, Eulogist, assisted by Rev. Edward J. Wilson, Rev. Dr. James Blassingame, Rev. George P. Windley and Rev. Dr. W. T. Johnson. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. for viewing until the hour of service. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Interment will follow in the Sumter Cemetery, 700 West Oakland Avenue, Sumter.
