Teresa Chermain Zuell, affectionately known as “Chermain” passed in peace at Lexington Medical Hospital in Lexington, SC at the age of 41 years old. She was born the youngest child of Juanita Zuell-Rutherford and the late Sherman Huggins. Chermain attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School in 1999. She was a devoted mother to her only son Kadence and valued spending quality time with him. She loved her family and enjoyed attending family functions and celebrations where she found humor in every situation. Chermain was down to earth and very easy to talk to. Friends and family confided in her regularly. She was a kind hearted person and got along with everyone. Chermain leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Kadence Burgess of Sumter, SC; her mother Juanita Zuell-Rutherford (Ronald) of Sumter, SC; Maternal Grandmother Pearl K. Zuell of Sumter, SC ; two brothers: Tyrone Zuell of Sumter, SC; Sherman Huggins Jr. of Sumter, SC ; two sisters: Shemika Zuell of Beavercreek, Ohio; Sharon Huggins (Tracy) of Sumter, SC; a Special Friend James Council of Sumter, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other surviving relatives and friends. Chermain was preceded in death by her father, Sherman Huggins Sr. Grandfather, Herbert Zuell, sister Cynthia Huggins-Robinson, and Aunt Gloria Zuell. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face mask and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 1046 Kentwood Drive, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p. m, Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, with Dr. Cartell Woods, Jr., Pastor, Eulogist. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 2:30 p. m. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Highway 15 South, Sumter.
