Frederick “Fred” Dennis was born on April 30, 1954 to the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Fannie Sanders Dennis. As God would have it Fred was surrounded by his wife, daughters, and oldest granddaughter when his life came to end, and he transitioned from this world. This happened on the evening of Friday, September 2, 2022 at William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia South Carolina. Fred accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and became a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1972. After graduation Fred severed in the United State Army for three years. He also attended Columbia Commercial Jr College, where he earned his Associated Degree in Business Data Processing. After which he was employed with Dupont/Invista for 40 years. Fred leaves to celebrate his life: his loving wife, Mary Dennis; four daughters, Shameaka Demeary, Jessica Dennis, Trista (Trevon) Alston and Jackee Dennis all of Camden; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one bonus grandson; four sisters, Evelyn Sanders of Rembert, Mamie Dennis of Camden, Barbara Dennis and Steen M. Sanders of Wilmington, Delaware; one brother, Frank (Joanne) Dennis of Rembert; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Otha Willie Dennis, Willie Dennis Jr, Earnest Dennis, Leroy Herriott; three sisters Betty Butler, Ruth Wilder and Julia Mae Dennis, and one son-in- law, Dewayne Demeary, Sr. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home from 1:00 – 6:00 p. m., 701 Carter Lane, Camden. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Friday, September 9, 2022 at New Haven United Methodist Church, 3159 Springhill Road, Bishopville, with Rev. Anthony Taylor, Sr., pastor of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, officiating eulogist, The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. for viewing until time of services. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be Monday, September 12, 2022 – 12:00 Noon, in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. 4170 Percival Road, Columbia.
