Leroy Anthony, son of the late Catherine Smalls and John Henry Anthony, was born June 24, 1951 in Sumter County. On Thursday, August 11, 2022, God sent his angels and called him home to eternal rest. Leroy was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He was employed at Tuomey Hospital for several years and later worked at Shaw Lumber Company, then Burgess Brogdon, until his health started to fail. Leroy leaves behind to cherish precious memories: his wife, Rosa Lee McCray Anthony; three daughters, Stacey (Emil) Boone of Bishopville, April Austin and Kortney Crawford of Sumter; one son, Leroy Austin; two step sons, Carlos Toney of Bishopville, and Gainey (Diane) Anthony of Savannah, GA; two step daughters, Carolyn Thompson of Grey Court, Jenifer (Jackie) Martin of Greenville; two sisters, Christian Brunson and Andrew Mae Service; five brothers, Willie (Patrice) Anthony, James Anthony, Jimmy Anthony Kenny Anthony and John (Jane) Reese; two special grandsons, James (Kimberly) Austin of Sumter and Chris Austin of Clinton; thirty two other grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at the home, 1055 Reed Roman Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Ricky Simmons, Eulogist, Rev. Dr. J. Elbert Williams, Officiating. The procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m.
