On July 19, 2022, Willie McDuffie, Sr. transitioned into eternal rest to be with the Lord. Willie was born on July 8, 1952, in Lee County to the late James and Rebecca Stucker McDuffie. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Mechanicsville United Methodist Church. Willie was educated in the public schools of Lee County, where he attended Dennis High School. For many years he worked for the City of Sumter and pursued his dream of entrepreneurship as a mechanic specializing in transmissions. Willie, aka “Wild Willie”, was loved and well known for playing checkers and drag racing. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family. To cherish his memories are his loving wife of fifty years, Elease McCauley McDuffie; his only son, Willie (Tamikah) McDuffie, Jr.; four daughters, Patricia McDuffie (Trenton Womack), Mary McDuffie, Irene McDuffie, Gloria McDuffie; six sisters, Joyce McDuffie, Shirley McDuffie, Irene McDuffie, Jeanette (Edward) Richardson, Eloise (Mack) Jenning, and Pearline McDuffie; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during their visitation at the home of his daughter, 4200 Cotton Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, 184 Lake Ashwood Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Kenneth Middleton, Pastor, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will follow in the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church Yard Cemetery.
