Ella Mae Grant, 89, entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the home of her cousins, Clarence and Alethia McCall. Born in Sumter County on April 8, 1933, she was the first born of David and Vermell Washington. Ella enjoyed gardening and especially spending time with family and friends. Ella was a member of the Restoration Ministry, where she enjoyed being in worship with her church family in the ministry. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by four brothers, David Washington, Jr., George Washington, Jessie Washington and John Washington and two sisters, Magdalene Spann and Rosa Lee Grant. She leaves fond memories of her life to be cherished by her son, Charles and wife, Celia Grant of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a special cousin, Betty McCall of New York. In accord with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitations at the home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Friday, June 3, 2022, in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Jason McCall, Eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Highway 441, Dalzell.
