John Earl Jackson, son of the late Moise Jackson and Mary Pressley Jackson, raised by the late Isaac Murray, was born August 7, 1949 in Dalzell. He departed this earthly life 10:15 a. m., Wednesday Morning, May 25, 2022 at his home in Sumter. At an early age, he joined St. Mark Four Bridge Baptist Church. John was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School, Class of 1969 in Dalzell. He was employed at Exide Battery and Belk Department Store. John leaves to cherish precious memories: one daughter, Michelle Lewis Bennett; three grandchildren, Devonte Diggs, Keaira Bennett and Doekawon Bennett; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Earnestine (Lucious) Pringle of Sumter, Bernice (George) Rembert of Dalzell; two brothers, James (Thomasena) Jackson, Robert (Maxine) Jackson of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Ruby D. Pressley of Sumter; his step mother, Fannie Jackson of Sumter, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 2280 October Circle, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Sammie D. Simmons, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 11:30 a. m. Burial will be in the St. Mark 4B Missionary Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, Sumter.
