Frances Murray Pasley was born to the late James and Lucia T Williams Murray on May 21, 1919 in Greeleyville. She exchanged time for eternity on Thursday evening, May 5, 2022. After graduating from Williamsburg County Training School in Williamsburg County, Frances continued her education at Allen College (Allen University), earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, followed by a Masters’ Degree in English from North Carolina Central College (North Carolina Central University). Additionally, she furthered her education at various colleges and universities. Frances was a lifelong educator having taught in various schools in Berkeley and Williamsburg Counties – RA Ready Elementary & Middle Schools, Moncks Corner, and Hemingway High in Hemingway. When her mother became ill, she moved back to Greeleyville to assist with her care; there she taught at Williamsburg County Technical College in Kingstree, then finally transferring to CE Murray High in Greeleyville, where she retired after forty three years of teaching in South Carolina schools. She was a member Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church in Greeleyville for over 95 years. In 1978, Frances married Orrie Pasley who preceded her in death as have her parents; d two sisters, Edna Murray Sherman and Alva Murray Adams, and a nephew, Thomas Oscar Sherman. Her memories will be cherished by her nieces, Betty P. Sumter of Sumter, Bessie Adams of West Los Angeles, CA, and Joyce Sherman of Roseville, CA; nephews, Stanley Adams of Philadelphia, PA, James (Sybil) Sherman of Lawrenceville, GA, and Bernard (Carolyn) Sherman of Orangeburg, along with a host of grand-nephews and nieces, great-grand nephews and nieces and a great-great-grand niece, cousins and life-long friends. In accord with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitations at the home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Marion H. Newton, Officiating, the Rev. John Henry Kennedy, Eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 10:30 a. m. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 253 Coleman Road, Greeleyville.
