Leonard (Pulu) Franklin, son of the late Harold and Geneva Franklin, departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He was raised by the late Moses and Rosa B. Washington. At an early age, he attended the public schools in Sumter County and later enlisted in the United States Marines. He was employed with the following companies: Hawkins and Kolb, Burgess and Brogdon, and B.L. Montague. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: eight sisters, Bernice (Randolph) Smith of Sumter, Helen Bennett of Brooklyn, N Y, Shelia Davis, Cornthia (Tyrone) Fullard, Cynthia Davis, Gloria (Bobby) Bradley, and Margie White, all of Sumter and Angela White of Tampa, Florida; eight brothers, Robert Washington, Marion Franklin, Anthony White, Al Davis, Harry Lee Davis, all of Sumter, Richard (Valerie) Davis of Jacksonville, N. C., Lester McLeod and Melvin McLeod, both of Brooklyn, N Y; a special niece, Betty Pressley of Sumter; a special cousin, Edward Hunt of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Geneva Franklin, Moses and Rosa B. Washington, and two brothers, Harold Franklin, Jr. and Rodney McLeod. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p. m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Joseph Ricks, Eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 2:00 p. m. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery, Dalzell.
