Mary Louise Amos, affectionately known as Peggy/Sistah, the daughter of the late Sammie and Martha (Wright) Amos, entered into eternal rest at her home on February 9, 2022. She attended Sumter Public Schools and was employed by District 17 for 30 years as a cook and custodian. She later retired from Defender Services. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member on the Usher Board. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories; six children: Dorothy Amos, of the home. Sammie (Gloria) Amos of Florence, Nancy Amos, Resa Amos, Felicia Amos, Lorene Amos-Wells, all of Sumter; three sisters, Sarah (Raymond) Balls, Marie Amos, Shirley Amos, all of Sumter; brother-in-law, Steven McGee of Sumter, SC; twenty five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 805 South Harvin Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Marion Newton, Pastor. The procession will leave the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery.
