In the year 1928 on March 24, Marion O’Dale Porter and Charity Rouse Porter, were blessed with a daughter they named Vivian Porter. After the death of her mother, Vivian Porter was raised by Marion O’Dale Porter and Eliza Linton Porter. On November 23, 2021, the Heavenly Father changed Vivian Porter Glover’s address from Sumter to Heavenly Lane. Vivian graduated from Lincoln High School in1948. She also attended 2 ½ years at Morris College. Vivian, attended McNeil Beauty Shoppe where she was a shampoo girl. She also received her certificate for Beauty School. At an early age, she joined Clark United Methodist Church. She was united in marriage to Eugene Glover and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Donna Denise Glover. In 1973, Vivian left Sumter, and found employment in New York. She remained in New York until 1993, when she returned to Sumter, and her home church, Clark United Methodist Church. She was active on the Stewardess Board, the United Methodist Women (UMW), and attended Sunday School. Vivian was active in the community as a volunteer foster grandparent in the elementary schools from 2000-2009. She leaves to cherish her memories: one nephew, Maenard Burgess (Terri), many cousins, and friends. In accordance with the COV19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 – 2:30 p. m. at Clark United Methodist Church, 2980 Oswego Highway, 401 North, Sumter, with the Rev. Raymond Cook, pastor, Officiating. The procession will leave at 2:00 p. m. from the home.
