Dorothy McGhee Wilson was born to the late Willie McGhee and Hester Young McGhee on May 11, 1931 in Oswego. She peacefully received her heavenly reward on August 5, 2021 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. She was married to the late Sammie Wilson. Their union was blessed with nine children. Dorothy worked at Cole’s Restaurant in Sumter, S. C. for a few years and later moved on as a house keeper. She relocated to Newark, N. J., where she found employment at Keystone and worked for the better part of her years. She found her passion as a home health aide until she retired. She was a beautiful, loving and wonderful mother and friend to many. She was the cornerstone of the family. She is survived by: her sister, Evelyn McGhee; her brother, Bobby McGhee; her children, Margaret Teixeira, Rosa Zito, Shirley Wilson, Ruth Wilson, McKinley Wilson, Earl Wilson, Roberta Wilson, Johnny Wilson and Sandra Wilson; her circle of love also include a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In accord with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 3150 South Darlington Highway, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Monday, August 16, 2021 at Unionville A M E Church, 1330 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville, with the Rev. Alvin E. Webb, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Unionville A M E Church Yard Cemetery. Funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m.
