Eddie Lee Gallishaw, affectionally called “Dunk”, was born on March 31, 1947 in Sumter County to Lucious Mack Gallishaw and the late Oleen McMillan Gallishaw. He departed this life on July 6, 2021 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Eddie was educated in the public schools of Lee County and at an early age joined Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Woodrow. After completing school, Eddie moved to Brooklyn, NY to pursue a better job opportunity. For 35 years he was employed with the Purify Down Bedding Factory. Upon returning to South Carolina, he was employed by Pilgrim Pride from 1998 until his retirement. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: one son, Eddie Jordon of Newark, N J; one sister, Bernice (James) Ray of Sumter; five brothers, Mack Gallishaw, Herbert Gallishaw, Robert (Wanda) Gallishaw and John Knotts, all of Sumter and Ervin ( Felecia) Gallishaw of New York; three grandchildren, Eddie, Xavier and Syniyan all of Newark, NJ; a special friend, Francine Moses, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 125 Bartlette Street, Apt 408, Sumter and 5445 Colclough Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Elder Barrington Pierson, officiating. The procession will leave at 1:20 p. m. from 5445 Colclough Road, Sumter. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Memorial Garden, Pear Street, Woodrow.
