Leola Sanders Boyd, daughter of the late Charlie Sanders, Sr. and Martha Delay Sanders, was born July 27, 1931, in Lee County. On Thursday, April 8, 2021, God called her to rest at her home. She received her formal education from the public schools of Lee County. Mrs. Boyd was a farmer, housewife and a mother to her four and many others during her life. Mrs. Boyd accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Grant Hill Baptist Church. After marrying “The love of her life”, she transferred her membership to Joshua Baptist Church and became a full member. She served faithfully as a member of the Trustee Wives’, Senior Missionary Board, Pastor’s Aide, Gospel Choir and the First Sunday Choir for many years. She was a pillar of her community. You could always depend on Mrs. Boyd with kind words, a beautiful smile, sound advice and generous hospitality. November 7, 1948, Leola was united in marriage to Booker T. Boyd, Sr. This union was blessed with four children. She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Booker T. (Vivian) Boyd, Jr. and one daughter, Martha Boyd Brunson, both of Dalzell; Sadie Jenkins, like a daughter, of Rembert; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Johnson; one brother, Charlie Sanders, Jr. all of Rembert; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID -19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitations at the home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a. m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Sand Hill Cemetery, Stuckey Town Road, Dalzell, with Pastor Eugene Dennis, officiating. The procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m.
