Annie Mae Jennings Johnson 63, daughter of the late Edward L. Lowery, Sr. and Clara E. Jennings, was born October 2, 1957 in Sumter. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her home. She was educated at the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1974. At an early age she joined Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church. She was employed at the Bird Farm for two years, Campbell Soup for eight years, Bosch for twenty five years and retired after fifteen years from Hengst. She leaves to cherish her life: her husband, Sammie Lee Johnson, Jr.; a daughter, Samantha (Harry Lee) Lewis, Jr.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; eight sisters, Maebell (Melvin) McCloud, Princess Jennings, Emma Fulton, Dorothy Yates, Joe Ann (Frank) Dennis, Patricia (Tommy) Hudson, Brenda Lowery, Marilyn (Bobby) Green all of South Carolina, Lucille (Harry) Dixon of North Carolyn; three brothers, Larry (Tonya) Jennings of South Carolina, William (Leola) Lowery of Colorado and Nathaniel (Lora) Lowery of Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Mt. Olive Memorial Garden, Pear Street, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph L. Brown, pastor, officiating. The procession will leave the home at 11:20 a. m.
