Louise Dickerson, 84, was born on December 1, 1936 in Worth, West Virginia to the late Theodiste and Letha Jackson Cheeks. She departed this life on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital following a brief illness. She graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1955. She gave her hand in marriage the following year to Joseph Dickerson, Sr. on July 21, 1956 and to this union three children were born. She was employed as a seamstress at the Kimball Sewing Factory in Kimball, West Virginia for many years until its closing. She was also employed by the Rite Aid Corporation in Bluefield, W. V. until her retirement. Upon retiring, she and her twin sister, Eloese, relocated to Ocala, FLA to live out their golden years. Due to health issues, Louise eventually moved to Sumter to be closer to her sons. Louise loved the Lord and accepted Him as her Savior early in life at the Virginia Chapel in Welch, WV. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Mayberry, WV and actively participated in many church functions and activities. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Organization for many years. Upon moving to Sumter, she joined Joshua Baptist Church in Dalzell under the leadership of the Reverend Eugene Dennis. She leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Joseph Jr. (Wanda), Michael (Diane) both of Dalzell and Lasonja (Quentin) of Atlanta, GA; a twin sister, Eloese Gregory and Nevonia Johnson; brothers, Clarence Cheeks, Robert Cheeks; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COV19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Viewing will be held Friday, January 1, 2021 at 12:00 noon in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 – 2:00 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Eugene Dennis, pastor of Joshua Baptist Church, officiating. The procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Garden, 802 North Guignard Drive, Sumter.
