Welcome to Williams Funeral Home

Charlie Mae Wilson, daughter of the Charles and Charlotte Brye, was born on November 10, 1943 in Evergreen, Alabama. Charlie took her heavenly flight on September 19, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home. Upon graduating from high school, Charlie relocated to The Bronx, New York, where she worked as a nurse at Calvary Hospital for 26 years and met and married the “love of her life”, the late Sandy Wilson. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama and upon retirement, she moved to Sumter, where she became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Taking care of her husband and family was a priority. Charlie, better known as “Nana”, “Red”, or Duke, loved helping everyone that she came in contact with, from babies to elders. Her strong and fearless spirit was unmatched as Charlie was known as a “nurturer”, incredible chef and baker, and a well-rounded classy woman. Charlie leaves to cherish her memories: loving children, Anthony, Sandra, Sounia and Sidney; grandchildren, Anthony James, Shaina, Sierra, Sadasia, Zaire, Sidney and Sydnee, and a bonus grandson, Jordan; a sister, Buice Brye; brothers, Robert E. Brye, Eugene (Marilyn) Brye, Willie C. Brye; and a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 – 10:00 a. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Richard Addison, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Guignard Drive, Sumter.
