John Edward Boone, 74, son of the late Eddie Boone, Sr. and Maybelle Myers Boone, was born July 24, 1946 in Sumter. He transitioned from earth to glory on Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduated of Ebenezer High School, Class of 1965. After graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served two terms earning the Rank of E-5 and was awarded several Citations. After Military, he moved to Newark, NJ and later to Kansas City, Missouri, where he retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of dedicated services. After retiring, he relocated back to his hometown of Sumter. He was raised in a Christian home with humble beginnings. He joined Mechanicsville United Methodist Church at a young age. He loved attending Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Frank Williams, Jr. where he visited on several occasions. He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Sharron Boone of the home and Carmen Harvest of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Martha Boone Lynn of Newark, NJ; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is requesting no visitation at the home. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 27, 2020 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Minister Barbara Davis, officiating, the Rev. Frank Williams, Jr., eulogist. Funeral procession will leave from the home at 11:20 a. m. Burial will follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia.
