Canty Polk, Jr., the son of the late Canty and Millie McQuillia Polk, was born on October 13, 1960 in Sumter and departed this life on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at his residence in Dalzell. Caty was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church. He attended the public schools in Sumter County and graduated from Hillcrest High School. Canty enlisted in the Army right after High School in 1980, where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. After leaving the military, he worked other jobs including: Truck Driver, CNA, Industrial Worker and Tunnel Laborer. He also continued his education at Morris College and Central Carolina in Sumter. He leaves to cherish his memories: two sisters, Loretta Polk Lewis and Carrie Mae Polk both of South Carolina; four aunts, Viola McGee, Annie Mae Davis and Louise (Edward) Choice, all of South Carolina and Albertha Rose of Boston, MA; eleven nieces and nephews; twenty six grand nieces and nephews; four great grand nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2020 - 12:00 Noon at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, with the Reverend Dale E. Edwards, Officiating. The procession will leave at 10:30 a. m. from 55 Sally Street, Wedgefield
