Joan Baker Brown, 68, daughter of the late Sam Baker, Sr. and Lucille Muldrow Baker, was born September 27, 1951 in Sumter. She departed this life on June 29, 2020 in Orangeburg. She received her education from Ebenezer High School, Dalzell. She attended Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church in her youth. Joan is survived by: one son, Tracy and one grandson, Terrence Green; six sisters, Annie Bell English, Rev. Earther (Mozell) Joe, Lucille Gailliard, Annette Brooks, Lurine Farmer Samuel, Francine (Tom) Samuels; four brothers, John Ray, Albert (Fanny), Victor (Shirley), Jerry (Cora); two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Baker and Joan Baker; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is requesting no visitation at the home. Graveside services will be held 11 a. m., Monday, July 6, 2020 at White’s Cemetery, 1575 Air Port Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Heyward Myers, officiating.
