Edith Mae “Monkey” Toney McGee, 80, life journey began on July 18, 1939 being born to the late Daisy Toney of Mayesville and Manny Carter of Bishopville. She left us on October 28, 2019 to go home to our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. She was raised with the affection of her mother and uncle Fess. She attended the public schools of Lee County. With her unique wisdom and ability to handle her sisters and cousins, she quickly became the family favorite for all the cousins to be around. As Monkey matured as a young lady her plan for education quickly resolved as she met the love of her life, Booker T. McGee, Sr. of Oswego, whom she married and began the journey of her life. With her husband, she gave birth to six of his children. She is survived by: her children, Booker T. (Luella) McGee, Jr., Willie H. (Debbie) McGee, Leroy (Marilyn) McGee, Tyron (Kimberly) McGee, Sarah Fredrica, (Johnny Ray) McGee; stepdaughter, Juantia (PeeWee) Issac Green; her grandsons whom she raised, Todd (Derrick) Damon, Kelvin Mitchell, Willie McGee Jr. (Lil Hayward), Tasheed (Spike) Nelson, whom she loved, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of her son, 730 Flamingo Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11 a. m., Monday, November 4, 2019 from the Unionville AME Church, 1330 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville, with the Rev. Alvin E. Webb, pastor, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the 10 a. m. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Unionville A. M. E. Churchyard Cemetery
