Charlie “Big C” Windham, Jr., 88, was born on April 11, 1931 to the late Charlie Windham, Sr. and Carrie Durant Windham in Sumter County. He departed this life on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at his home in Sumter. Charlie joined Joshua Baptist Church at an early age. He drove truck for FCX for many years, then became a foreman for Georgia Pacific for over 20 years until he retired. Charlie had a love for Baseball and played with Cypress Grill and Cool Spot. He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Carolyn (John) Bolden of Newport News, VA, Janice (Weldon) Bolden of Hampton, VA, Barbara Windham of Newport News, VA, Joyce (Elwood) Whitney of Virginia Beach, VA, Charlie Tyrone Hargrove of the home, Tonia Hargrove Brunson of Sumter, Barbara (Asbury) Davis of Sumter; a one sister, Eva Mae W. Johnson and brother-in-law, James E. Johnson of Sumter; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of his daughter, 440 Crosswell Drive, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p. m., Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene G. Dennis, pastor, eulogist. The Remains will be place in the church at 1:30 p. m. The funeral procession will leave the home at 1:50 p. m. Burial will be in the Joshua Baptist Churchyard Cemetery.
