Millie Johnson-Garrett, 68, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. She was born in Sumter County to the late Hazel Johnson and Essie Mae Williams-Johnson on March 26, 1951. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. After High School, Millie moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she met and married J. B. Garrett. They continued their lives together while raising their two children. J. B. entered eternal rest on December 6, 1984. Millie gain a second daughter that brought her much joy. Millie later moved back to Rembert and joined the Rafting Creek Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated member of the Senior Missionary. She was employed by National Health Care Facility. Millie enjoyed spending time with the seniors at the community center. She is survived by: her two daughters, Jaavon (Teddy) Garrett-Collier of Dalzell, Diasia S. Ellerbee of Hyattsville, MD; three sisters, Carol L. Sadler, Daisy (Kenny) Brown, Hazel L. Johnson, all of Rembert; four grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p. m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 from the Rafting Creek Baptist Church, Highway 261 North, with the Rev. Melvin Mack, pastor, eulogist. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 3290 Highway 261 North, Rembert. The Remains will be placed in the church at 12 noon. The procession will leave the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Rafting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
