Annie Louise. Strickland, 82, widow of Robert Leon Strickland, Sr., departed this life on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born December 1, 1936 in Jamison, she was the daughter of the late Hercules and Ozie Bell Sandle Moorer. She was the fourth of five children. She enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and left the military in 1956. From 1967 – 2000, she served as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in various locations and capacities. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Catchall # 315 and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, where she served as the chaplain, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Elite Social Club. She loved giving back to her community as a volunteer, often supporting Sumter Senior Service. She was passionate about her service as a poll worker with the South Carolina Election Commission. During her life she was known for her charismatic personality and her love for people. She leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Robert Leon Strickland, Jr., Jacqueline D. Parks (Jamie J. Parks III) and Gina E. Strickland-Cooper; one brother, Henry Lee Moorer; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends near and far. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 5485 Meadow Drive, Sumter. Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, August 2, 2019, 11 a. m. from the Palmetto Chapel, Shaw AFB, Sumter. The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a. m. from the home.
